Ms. May’s practice focuses on federal and state environmental matters including:

Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA, commonly known as Superfund) matters

State matters such as cost recovery litigation and remediation projects

Environmental justice issues

Indoor air quality issues

Legionnaires' disease and toxic torts

Sarbanes-Oxley environmental reserve procedures

Environmental management systems and permit requirements

Multi-state and federal environmental compliance and enforcement actions

Negotiation to reduce penalties imposed by government agencies such as the USEPA, FRA, DOT, FDEP, Ohio EPA, etc. regarding dust, hazardous materials handling and waste permits
In addition, Ms. May represents property owners in matter involving purchase, sale and redevelopment of environmentally impacted properties, and conducts due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, as well as property acquisition for residential, commercial and condominium developments and conversions. I also counsel clients regarding environmental concerns of foreclosed properties.
As a state certified Circuit Mediator in all judicial circuits of the State of Florida, Ms. May facilitates the resolution of disputes, including disputes which have not yet reached the courts.
Prior to starting her own firm, she practiced environmental law with McGuireWoods and Holland & Knight, and was in-house counsel with CSX Transportation. For several years at Holland & Knight she served as coordinator of their Women's Initiative in the Jacksonville office. She has also served as a guest lecturer at the Florida Coastal School of Law and was Chair and committee member of the Mentor Program of the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville.
